Not your garden variety B&B, some of our well-traveled guests have remarked that “A Storybook Inn is more like a small luxury European hotel than a Bed and Breakfast.” It is a challenge to balance exquisite elegance and comfortable welcome, but Elise, the Innkeeper, has accomplished just that. Cumberland Manor Bed and Breakfast - [] SEE WEBSITE []=208 Arthur Heights - [] SEE WEBSITE []Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965 1247609064 Step back in time and visit The Cumberland Manor, a grand Victorian built in 1890. This 6000 square foot home has inviting public rooms elegantly decorated with period antiques and a beautifully hand-carved staircase. It has recently been restored to its original grandeur, complete with hardwood floors in every room, stained and leaded glass windows, coffered ceilings, elaborate wood work and upscale era fireplaces. Boasting a large brick front porch, it sits atop the Cumberland Mountains overlooking historic downtown Middlesboro and has views of three states. - Millions of years ago a meteor crashed in Eastern Kentucky. The enormous crater that was left behind is where Middlesboro is now located. As a result, the mountains surround us in all directions. The city, one mile west of the Cumberland Gap was founded by Alexander Arthur. He entertained wealthy investors from Europe to settle here with the prospects of income from iron mining and processing, like its namesake town of Middleborough, England. - The house that is now Cumberland Manor was built for the Secretary Treasurer John B. Cary. The Cary family lived here for a few years until the town went bankrupt. Several bad fires and lack of iron ore destroyed the local economy. The house was then bought by the Easton family who lived here for many generations. During the late 20’s and 30’s Middlesboro was known as Little Las Vegas. It was characterized by the massive bootlegging and prostitution that kept the area prosperous even during the Great Depression. This house has even been said to have been a lucrative bordello for many years. Jill Whelan West (606) 248-4299 or Toll Free: (866) 648-4299

We offer our guests a homey atmosphere and that good old Southern hospitality with a Western flair. - Hall Place has been a Glasgow landmark since it was built in 1852 and is full of history and famous comings-and-goings. Some personal history includes the house being constructed by William T. Bush, the son of Captain "Billy" Bush of the Revolutionary War and a founder of Barren County. From the family genealogy, Karin has also determined that she was a direct descendent from the house builder and truly feels like she's home. Other famous happenings include visits to Hall Place by Abraham Lincoln, who was very close to its first owners. Hall Place was briefly a Civil War hospital until Dr. Hall and his family moved from the war-torn town in 1861. The troops continued to inhabit the house during a number of Civil War Battles, including the famous Battle of Christmas Day which occurred in the Glasgow City square. Karin and Gary 866-651-3176

Jailer's Inn - [] SEE WEBSITE []=111 W. Stephen Foster
Bardstown, KY 40004 1247593966 Iron bars on windows, 30 inch thick stone walls, and a heavy steel door slamming behind you may not sound like the typical tourist accommodation and Jailer’s Inn is anything but typical. The historic Jailer’s Inn, circa 1819, offers a unique and luxurious way to "do time." Jailer’s Inn is a place of wonderful, thought provoking contrasts. Each of our six guest rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques and heirlooms, all located in the renovated front jail. The back jail, built in 1874, is basically unchanged; you get a chilling and sobering look at what conditions were like in the old Nelson County jail that was in full operation as recently as 1987. On spring and summer mornings, as you sip hot coffee and chat with other guests over a full breakfast in the courtyard, it’s difficult to imagine all of the previous uses of the courtyard—as a work yard for prisoners crushing limestone, a place to visit forlorn relatives, or even the centralized location of the Nelson County gallows. L & N Bed and Breakfast - [] SEE WEBSITE []=327 N Main St -
Henderson KY 42420 1247497280 A gracious parlor overlooks Main Street. Well-tended antiques complement the ornate fireplace and a 12-foot ceiling is suspended over the polished oak floor. The atmosphere at L&N Bed and Breakfast recalls a time when life possessed a simpler charm. Tempted by the gentle rumble of a passing train, guests at the 100-year-old edifice may feel compelled to peek out the windows, hoping for a glimpse of times gone by. -The railroad played an influential role in the building's history. Built in 1895, the home was first occupied by the Giebels, a family of German Jewish immigrants. After L&N completed the current railroad bridge in 1932, a railroad employee lived in the home and operated a rooming house. In the 1940s, a teacher and her sister owned the home and rented rooms. And since the 1960s, it has accommodated gift shops, architects, insurance agents, photographers and renters. Norris & Mary Elizabeth Priest 270-831-1100

Thus, the new name of Scottwood, reflects both the old and the new locations. - Originally, the brick Federal was a modest tenant house on a farm and modernization through the years was minimal. The beautiful ash floors, the woodwork, the doors and hardware and many built-in cabinets have survived. - The setting of the bed-and-breakfast, near the town of Midway, is perfect for guests looking for a bit of yesterday.
